Salvia – Transylvanica (Sage)
This sage blooms for a long period throughout the summer, and if dead-headed occasionally, will continue through the autumn. Great for a sunny border and drought tolerant. Plant it under roses or with sedum so that the colour can harmonise and compliment, either hot or cool colours. It overwinters very well as a young plant, but if left un-pruned and un-restricted, older plants may become woody and literally bloom themselves out. Leave them undisturbed and allow it to set seed providing free babies to fill out other sunny areas. It reaches around 2-3 feet.
