Verbena – Bonariensis
A wonderful architectural plant, tall rigid stems carry purple flowers, which do not need staking, they flower all summer, and can be planted in any position in the border, will grow up to 5 feet. It can self-seed freely, which is good as sometimes the frost gets them. Butterflies love it.
Start seeds indoors 8 to 12 weeks before the average date of last frost. Cover the seeds with a thin layer of seeding mix, as they need darkness to germinate. Germination is slow and irregular, so be patient.
