Digitalis – Mertonensis (Foxglove)
Slightly trickier than normal Digitalis to grow from seed, just sprinkle onto moist seed compost, cover very lightly, cover with a seed tray lid and wait.
We find a late sowing in late Autumn, so they can cold stratify works best.
Prick out once the real leaves are out.
A perennial dwarf variety of foxglove with a flower the colour of crushed Strawberries. It flowers from a clump of deep green evergreen leaves which are surprisingly large for a small plant. Loves a woodland setting, moist soil, with shade and it will self seed quite happily.
