ARMERIA MARITIMA ALBA – 2 Litre pot
I just adore these little white cushions! Armeria maritima, commonly known as thrift, sea thrift or sea pink, thrift or cliff clover is a herbaceous perennial with long-stalked, dense clusters of flowers. It can grow in dry, sandy, saline soil conditions such as coastal cliffs, grassland and salt marshes, salted roadsides and inland on mountain rocks. It is a common sight in British salt marshes and also does well in rock gardens with richer soils. Flowering from late spring to late summer, pink thrift appear in a flush of flowers with a beautiful pink flower colour and leaves that resemble green grass in dense clusters.
Sea thrift can grow up to around 19 inches tall, flowering from May to August. As it grows best in sandy well-drained soil, we simply add a generous level of grit to our peat free compost and they seem to grow well. This lovely plant, is, of course, Salt-Tolerant. We cut back the flowers quite regularly and the whole plant re-news itself with more blooms.
