Samhain Workshop 1

SPIRITUAL SAMHAIN WORKSHOP FIRE CEREMONY – SUNDAY 1ST NOVEMBER

📅 November 1st 2026 – 1pm – 5pm

📍 The Enchanted Garden, Valley View, 18 Dargate Rd, Yorkletts, Whitstable CT5 3AB

💷 £45:  includes a light homemade vegan lunch & refreshments

✨ Limited to 12 participants

This is a ceremonial workshop that remembers our ancestors, connects us to the other worlds at this seasonal celebration of Samhain, also known as All Hallows Eve.

Lunch is provided as you arrive and meet each other (Vegan Spiced Squash Soup served with warmed artisan bread). This is an opportunity to ask any questions or to share any past experiences about this seasonal celebration from Hélène Williams and Donna Truwhyte.

Donna leads you around the Enchanted Gardens linking into her knowledge of ancestral beings.

You will then be guided by Hélène to connect with an actual Elder Tree, becoming at one with nature through meditation and breath work.

This is followed by a drummed shamanic journey into the underworld to meet the spirit of Elder, the wise woman, the Crone, where an answer/guidance/deep wisdom will be revealed according to your own personal needs.

We then sit round the ceremonial fire as Donna leads us in ritual that honours our ancestors, there is a poetic performance and sharing of experience.

This is all held within love and light under the protection of a shamanic medicine wheel that is opened at the beginning and closed in ceremony and thanks at the end.

PLANNING YOUR NEW BORDER IN THE SUN – 6th JUNE 2pm Till 4pm

In this 2 hour workshop we will explore the relationship between the design and planting in a sunny situation.  Whoever you are, this workshop will help you to understand and translate the language of planting into your garden regardless of size.

We will learn about the heat loving sun worshippers of the plant world  which are colour coded to suit, and the methodical understanding of trees, shrubs and perennials in the analogy of the physical body, which is just the quirky way Donna views planting borders; with Background, Bones, Muscle, skin and outfit to finish.

Donna often says “A border is a musical composition from our mind and spirit either painted onto canvas or for those of us who can’t paint – planted into our garden”

We will learn temperature, soil and the role of individual taste within the artistic creation of a garden border.

Q & A are always part of this workshop, but need to be kept for the end.

Pen and paper for notes is important, for you to take away the concepts and integrate into your own sunny border at home.

Tea/Coffee and homemade cake are always available, either before we begin our learning or afterwards.

About the Workshop

How to Talk to Plants is a guided journey into tree communication, co-curated by Hélène Williams and Donna Truwhyte. Together they weave ancestral story, spiritual practice, and direct experience to help you open a respectful dialogue with the living world.

Held in the nourishing environment of the Enchanted Garden — a place of restoration, biodiversity, and quiet beauty — this intimate day offers space to move with the land, experience the therapeutic presence of plants, and learn practices you can continue at home or in your own garden.

With Donna

Take a  walking journey through the Enchanted Garden, meeting trees and plants she has tended as companions and teachers — living presences carrying story, memory, and ancestral depth. For Donna, gardening and conservation are not about control but about entering into dialogue with Mother Nature. Learn how she listens for the spirit of the land, perceives ancestral presences, and honours plants and trees as beings with wisdom and voice. Her work reveals how tending the land can also tend the spirit, opening participants to a deeper sense of ecological balance, belonging, and care.

With Hélène

Practice and guidance in plant communication — grounding, breathwork, and imaginal exercises. She teaches that consciousness is present in all organisms, and through practice we can journey into relationship with that awareness. Communication may come as images, sensations, or subtle knowing’s — from the plant itself, a nature or ancestral presence. Prolific in her communion with the plant kingdom, Hélène also paints visions gifted by the natural world, and helps participants trust their own unique ways of perceiving and connecting.
