Geranium Phaem 🖤🌿 I have grown this beautiful hardy geranium for over 20 years here. Commonly called dusky crane’s-bill, mourning widow or black widow, it was part of Victorian “Mourning Gardens” which were very popular at the time. She flowers from late spring into early summer and repeats quite well if chopped down giving a second flush. Fiery Clearwing Moth breeding site 🌾🦋💚 The Dock has come up early this year and for once im not upset about it! It is a fantastic plant where the clearwing moth lays its eggs in the stems, which we have been recognised for! Wood Piles - why are they important for nature? 🪵 From our recent project with Kent Community Energy, removing a Willow, which was just massive! We had a huge amount of wood to use for building habitats in community spaces plus some more spare! From this we have created a Wood Pile which is a great habitat for our wildlife, boosting biodiversity, giving a safe, damp space for wildlife to shelter & use as their own homes. Camassia Leichtlinii 🪴🪻 I grow Camassia because it doesn’t mind the wet – that and the fact that the flowers are a wonderful BLUE up to 2 feet tall popping out of tall meadow grass or a herbaceous border looks stunning. It is a good choice for a variety of conditions, including heavy, moist soils, and is largely resistant to slugs and snails. It prefers moist soil, but not waterlogged soil. Camassia is fully hardy and will come back year after year. Solanum Glasnevin - Potato Vine 🪻🌿 Solanum is a very impressive semi-evergreen climber which just cannot help but produce a mass of purple or white flowers during the summer months. Lamium Orvala - Balm Leaf Deadnettle 🌿🩷 We have this in stock in the Nursery now! This lovely member of the dead nettle/Lamiacea family is rarely grow in the UK now. A true Woodland herbaceous perennial, forming a very attractive clump of Nettle like leaf with large spikes of orchid-like very dramatic whorled pink/purple petals. Flowering through May, June and July. It does grow exceptionally well in shade but can tolerate sun if watered.
