NATURE BASED LEARNING FOR CHILDREN
Donna Truwhyte leads engaging, hands-on sessions for children in a beautiful 2-acre Conservation Pasture filled with native plants, wildflowers, and thriving wildlife.
With over 30 years of experience as a professional gardener, Donna brings a deep-rooted passion for pollinator-friendly gardening and a lifelong commitment to protecting our natural world. She teaches children about insects, plants, trees, invertebrates, birds, and mammals in a way that is practical, accessible, and filled with wonder.
Through exploration and play, children learn not only how ecosystems work, but also why caring for them matters. Whether they’re identifying butterflies, studying the soil, or simply listening to birdsong, Donna’s sessions spark curiosity and build a connection to nature that lasts a lifetime.
Donna believes it's more important than ever to pass this knowledge on to the next generation, to inspire young people to care for the planet, protect pollinators, and discover the joy of learning outdoors.
Children will be able to learn about planting seeds to grow food as well as flowers. Why and how they grow, what they need to do so. Children will take home their seeds and nurture them hopefully to become budding nature gardeners and allotmenteers themselves. Donna teaches respect for soil and how organic practice is the future for the whole planet.
