Philladelphus Belle Etoile (10 litre)
We have several different varieties of Philadelphus, all of them are intensely fragrant and when in flower our customers are intoxicated by them and tend to buy them on the spot!
Belle Ettoile is delightful growing into a medium sized deciduous shrub. Please remember that she flowers on two year old wood so prune lightly, if at all.
The very highly scented single white flowers with a raspberry coloured throat, smell like BUBBLEGUM!
We sell out of these every year at our May shows as they flower early and on into Summer.
The common name of Philadelphus is Mock Orange and the reason is that this plant smells wonderfully of orange blossom.
Philladelphus flowers are very strongly scented even from quite some distance away, and like many white flowering plants, the scent is even stronger in the evening. Philadelphus ‘Belle Etoile’ makes a wonderful informal billowing hedge as seen in our photograph. It is profuse flowering, with large white single flowers with a raspberry throat, in late May, June and July and often flowers for many weeks. The arching branches are covered in mid-green foliage which is deciduous.
Good for bees and hoverflies.
In a 10 litre pot.
