We have always grown veg from seed here at EG for our May Shows as they always sell well.
Last year we sold a lot more than usual so we are sowing extra this year.
We feel its important to grow some of your own food, it connects us to nature, to the life cycle of plants and adds a layer of responsibility into what we eat.
We grow as many heritage and organic crops as we can and try to avoid F1 hybrids, they are infertile, prolonging our dependency on seed suppliers, however this is not always possible. (Let’s not get started on grafted tomatoes).
We usually grow a wide selection; aubergines, brussels sprout, all the different tomatoes: cherry, intermediate, beefstake, italian plum, plus heritage types, chillies, sweet peppers, courgette, broad bean, runner bean, french bean, peas, mangetout, sugar snap, pak-choi, spinach, kale, broccli, swede, sweet corn, lettuce The list is endless…….Plus around 20 different Herbs;
Prices vary.
